NOTE: Also, be careful on ‘donating’ to this local community site — I had planned to, for community support — but have since immediately nixed that idea.

Broadly restricting our non-derogatory / non-profane (even humorous) comments… This site (Forest Hills Connection) sometimes post some very good information. BUT…!!! The problem lies in our capability of posting comments on the site. There appears to be very serious (severe?) restrictions on the type of comments one can make on that site. Let me plug in a couple of examples regarding one article.

TITLE: “About cannabis “gifting” shops, their arrival in the neighborhood, and efforts to regulate them”

Here is my first comment attempt on this article:

Oh my, yes, more MJ shops — now disguised as GIFT shops. One great way to get around loopholes….

While this is a VERY informative article, it grabbed me by my short hairs and I screamed in my brain.
Then I had to go do a somewhat extensive write up of my own on MJ shops and GIFT shops.
Especially in apartment buildings, condos and coops.

Nothing wrong with folks smoking MJ, some need it for health, some just for recreation but…. there is a lo unpack in that statement.
Most of which I would not be allowed to say here. Not profanity, just some harsh realizations that some folks might not consider…

*** repeated posting w/o some of the above since the site does not like it.
Hmmm, interesting story about GIFT shops and marijuana… will have to write a more enlightening piece on a couple of my sites.

Holistic Wellness and Gifting in D.C. On the Connecticut Ave N.W. corridor.

Wonder how residents feel about these venues expanding…?

Comment above was not approved, had to whittle it down to this:

Another person made a comment and I originally replied with this:

“ditto, Ditto, DITTO….!!!!! I hear you, I hear you — that is a good one. I’m going to have to top you there tho’.
In saying that they did not make my top 5,000 list…. there. Seriously, I had to go write up a longer piece on GIFTing on one of my sites — that was how serious topic matter is to me and those around me.
This has serious consequences for many people.”

That partially humorous comment was not approved, even after I whittled it down to this:

“ditto, Ditto, DITTO….!!!!! I hear you, I hear you — that is a good one. I’m going to have to top you there tho’.

Then to this:

I mean, c’mon — a) it seems we cannot make reference to our also writing about it b) we cannot add a link to our own article c) we cannot have humour in something like this.

Bottom line: It is their site and they can restrict content as they desire. So, you should take that into consideration on a) how much you wish to contribute to a site that appears to be heavily restrictive and b) REALLY think about what kind of comments you make on this site, in order to make it worth your time reading the articles or adding what could be considered useful (or even funny) comments.
