Okay, finally found some good information from Emily, an Independent advisor on Microsoft Community.
Emily was responding to another user (one of many, MANY, MANY out there on different web sites) who was havinghaving the same issue many folks are complaining about: OneDrive uninstalled but windows still uses onedrive path to save.
It all boils down to one thing — in OneDrive Settings, now go to Account tab, click on “Unlink this PC”.
Then of course, uninstall OneDrive if that is your desire.
Apparently, what has been happening is that OneDrive is automatically saving documents/files to the cloud and the user is not aware (I know I was not).
